Generate watchable, compelling programming themes, and plan/implement thoughtful program schedules during congressional breaks, holiday periods and other key time slots.
Identifies in-town events that can be saved and aired/or re-aired at various times, and organizes the workflow involving those shoots (editing, portioning, updated scripts/graphics, etc).
Works with National Editor to understand the content and value of out-of-town shoots, and where they might fit in our schedules. Consults with National Editor on editorial or technical issues, etc. Seeks appropriate use of C-SPAN archival material, where warranted.
Utilizes all “gathered” material to generate topical programs, themes or series, and program schedules for various dayparts, or periods, whenever needed. Takes appropriate “risks” to produce a compelling product.
Maintains accurate, easy-to-read documentation about all pending materials.
Works closely with Coordinating Producers and Producers on the on-air presentation of all materials, including scripts/graphics, transitions, complimentary material, etc. Communication must be timely, thorough and effective.
Takes lead in having key material promoted, including use of language for update lines, stills, promo spots, etc.
Seeks opportunities for tie-ins between featured TV programming and social media, plus other interactivity with audience.
Gathers feedback on featured programming, covering editorial, promotional, workflow and technical aspects.
